Sonosite Ultrasound Vascular Visualization System GENERAL: The CT and MRI Section of the Radiology Service at the New Porty Richey CBOC 9912 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654, has a requirement for an ultrasound imaging system to aid in the visualization of patient veins during the process of placing IV access. BACKGROUND: JAHVA Radiology Service provides imaging services in multiple modalities at the New Port Richey CBOC, an offsite location without access to a specialized IV access team usually available to radiology in a hospital environment. CT and MRI imaging requires the IV administration of contrast for optimal imaging and diagnosis. Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRTs) are entrusted with placing IV access prior to imaging. The physical condition of patients can undermine and/or compromise the ability of the DRT to quickly, accurately, and painlessly locate a 'good' vein in which to place the IV access. DRTs are already well versed in imaging techniques and are very well suited to the use/operation of the ultrasound imaging device for the purpose of vein location.
