Veteran biospecimens will require transport from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System between August 2025 and July 2026. The total shipment will include approximately 178,000 specimens. Transportation requirements include continuous monitoring, maintenance of a temperature at or below 60°C throughout transit, and next-day delivery. The Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center Research & Development Department does not have dedicated transportation services capable of meeting the highly stringent requirements for transporting frozen biospecimens. This project involves the transfer of approximately 178,000 Veteran biospecimens from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to multiple VA sites, including the VA Greater Los Angeles, between August 2025 and July 2026. These specimens require continuous temperature control at 60°C or lower, specialized packaging, and continuous monitoring to ensure their integrity.
