USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station intends to award a sole source award to Campbell Scientific utilizing a consistent and compatible soil moisture monitoring set-up to build this powerful data set is important. Protocol development for this effort included important discussions with Research & Development, Sale Administrators, and others, finding that the HS2 HydroSense II Handheld Soil Moisture Sensor (campbellsci.com) works well. This sensor is capable of sampling in rocky soil, can be used with factory calibration, and has good battery life. This purchase will be made utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with: Federal Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
