1.GENERAL: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, located at 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida33612, requires one (1) surgical microscope for the Otolaryngology clinic. 2.BACKGROUND: Currently, the only surgical microscope on site that meets the clinic's needs is the Zeiss Kinevo surgical microscope, predominantly used by the Neurosurgical section. With the Otolaryngology section now performing microvascular reconstructions, they and the Neurosurgical section have been sharing the Kinevo microscope. This sharing has led to multiple scheduling conflicts and has caused delays in surgical care or the need to send Veterans to community care due to prolonged wait times. Purchasing the Pentero microscope will provide necessary redundancy in the facility s microscope capabilities when the Kinevo microscope is under repair, a recurring issue over the last few years. None of the other current surgical microscopes on site are optimal alternatives for either Neurosurgical or Otolaryngology reconstructive use.
