PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District is contemplating a firm-fixed-price contract for the Design-Bid-Build construction of 24 concrete turning pads, as well as site drainage and road alignment and repair where required. The contract will be executed in three phases. The contractor will only have access to one phase at a time and must complete that phase before moving on to the next phase. While the contractor is working on one phase the Army will be conducting training in the other two phases. Each turning point identified in the drawings will require the existing roadbed to be excavated and concrete placed in accordance with the design. Storm drainage work will be required to maintain positive drainage of the site during construction activities. Once the turning pad has cured properly, the exiting connecting roads shall be regraded/aligned to tie into the pad as shown in the contract drawings.
