PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the project is to demolish the existing Friendship House and construct a new building. The contractor shall furnish all equipment, materials, labor, supervision, and quality control. The project consists of the replacement of the VA owned Friendship House and two adjacent metal storage buildings, all of which have serious deficiencies and have exceeded their useful lifespans. In addition to the deterioration of the three structures, this VA owned property also has other deficiencies including accessibility issues and allowable occupant total. Due to a lack of Fire Code NFPA 101 standards the current resident count is capped at 16 and no longer meets the needs of the VA. Approximately 6892 square feet of existing house and approximately 4674 square feet of existing shop buildings will be demolished. New construction includes approximately 11,550 square feet of new facility accommodating 24 beds, including storage space on the existing Friendship House property.
