The mission of the OVAMC, Orlando Florida is to provide the highest quality health care to our nation s veterans. To accomplish this mission, we must protect the health and safety of patients, employees, and visitors. Recent cases of healthcare-associated Legionella disease in hospitals have served to remind us that we must continue to enhance our Legionella prevention activities within our network. The Veterans Health Administration currently has one of the most comprehensive Legionella prevention policies in the country and the OVAMC, Orlando Florida has meticulously reviewed their Legionella prevention activities to verify compliance with VHA requirements. To enhance our facility programs, the OVAMC, Orlando Florida intends to contract the initial development and implementation of a Chlorine PREVENTION plan with the goal of preventing legionellosis associated with building water systems.
